    Sharing information about scholarships is a courtesy of the School Counseling Department at Northwestern High School.   Northwestern High School does not conduct scholarship searches for students, nor does it solicit scholarship offers.  The criteria for scholarships is determined by the organization sponsoring the scholarship who has requested we advertise their scholarships. It is highly recommended that students conduct scholarship searches on their own if they do not meet the criteria for the scholarships listed in this newsletter.  Unless specified, Northwestern High School does not sponsor or endow any of the scholarships listed, nor is it a part of the committees designated to determine scholarship recipients.     Hampton Wildlife Fund Scholarships (5)

    The Hampton Wildlife Fund is pleased to offer 5 scholarships to South Carolina graduating seniors; Harry Hampton, Thomas W. Hardwick Jr., James O. Thomason, Wallace F. Pate, and David M. Cline Scholarships. Click for more information.

    The Harry Hampton Scholarship and the Thomas W. Hardwick Jr. Scholarship are 4-year $5,000 per year scholarships for students wishing to further their education in the natural resources disciplines, such as wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, or marine science. The recipients will receive these scholarships for 4 years as long as a GPA of 2.5 or above is maintained for the academic year.

    The Wallace F. Pate Scholarship is a one-year, $2,500 scholarship for students who wish to pursue a degree in natural resources discipline such as wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, or marine science.

    The James O. Thomason Scholarship is a 4-year $2,000 per year scholarship for students who wish to pursue a degree in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations or mass communications. The recipient will receive the James O. Thomason for 4 years as long as he or she maintains a GPA of 2.5 or above for a given academic year. Applicants are also required to submit a topical essay.

    The David M. Cline Scholarship is a one-year, $2,000 scholarship for students who wish to pursue a degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or forensic science.

    Presbyterian College 

    Students that are applying to PC and wish to be nominated 1880 Student Referral Program Scholarship should contact their School Counselor.  The scholarship is $1880 awarded annually for up to 4 years. The student should be nominated before the student is accepted to PC. 

    $100,000 BOYS STATE AND GIRLS STATE SCHOLARSHIPS AT PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE
    Palmetto Boys State and Girls State students automatically qualify for a $100,000 scholarship ($25,000/year over four years). But they must apply by our Early Action deadline on December 1. Please encourage your Palmetto Boys State and Girls State students to apply if they haven't already.

    FULL-RIDE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY #1 Tell your high achievers to apply to PC by December 1 to qualify for the full Griffith Scholarship. The Griffith covers the full cost of tuition, fees, room, and board and is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study at PC. There are two recipients each year.

    FULL-RIDE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY #2  Your service-minded students with entrepreneurial spirits also have a chance to receive a full-ride scholarship. Our  gives your students the chance to solve a problem in their community ... for a chance to earn a full ride to PC!

    South University Alumni Scholarship

    To qualify for the scholarship, you must graduate from one South University program and be accepted into another OR be selected to receive a Transferred Alumni Scholarship from an eligible South University graduate. All recipients must:

    - Be a newly enrolled student in the South University program
    - Maintain continuous enrollment with no unapproved breaks
    - Have a signed Memorandum of Understanding on file

    Rev. Robert G. Toatley Memorial Scholarship

    Looking to distribute our annual $1000 and $500 Rev. Robert G. Toatley Memorial Scholarships to local ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û seniors. This scholarship honors one of our notable charter members, Rev. Robert G. Toatley. The scholarship consists of an online application on
    how the scholarship would help the applicant with college expenses. To be considered for the Rev. Robert G. Toatley Memorial Scholarship, students must complete all scholarship items by Friday, May 17th, 2024.

    Brother David Memorial Scholarship

    Eligibility*

    • Must be a high school senior having earned all basic credits for entering college or a proper vocational or technical school

    • Must be planning full-time attendance at an accredited South Carolina university, college or technical college in the fall semester immediately following high school graduation

    • Must have a minimum, unweighted, GPA (Grade Point Average) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale, or an equivalent if using a non-traditional scale.

    • Must have worked on a community or school related service project within the last 12 months (not a required school or work project).

    • Parents or guardians of student must have an active residential electric utility account with the City of RockHill

    *Any applicant who has received a full-tuition scholarship to the school or his/her choice is not eligible for scholarship. Students with a parent or guardian who works for the City of ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û are not eligible.

    Powerful Minds Scholarship

    The City of ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û and the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency (PMPA) have partnered to give $1,000 merit-based scholarships to a high school senior planning to enroll in a full-time program of study at an institution of higher education.

    Eligibility*

    • Must be a high school senior having earned all basic credits for entering college or a proper vocational or technical school

    • Must be planning full-time attendance at an accredited South Carolina university, college or technical college in the fall semester immediately following high school graduation

    As a Golden Door Scholar, each student receives a scholarship to empower them to earn a bachelor's degree and pursue a dream career. Eligible students may be high school seniors, recent high school graduates, or currently enrolled in college pursuing an undergraduate degree. This organization is committed to assisting undocumented students.

    York County Woman's Club

    The GFWC York County Woman’s Club (GFWC-YC) is a proud supporter of the military families in the county and is offering 2 (two) $4,000 college scholarships to 2 (two) York County high school seniors whose parent(s) are a veteran, reserv-
    ist, or current service member. This scholarship is available for the 2023-2024 school year and can be used at any post-graduate school. Scholarship money will be sent directly to the school for tuition.

    Bessie Moody Lawrence Scholarship

    The York County Democratic Women's Council has been offering scholarships to York County graduating senior women since 2014. This year they plan to offer two scholarships of $1,000. The scholarship is in memory of Dr. Bessie-Moody Lawrence, a professor of Education at Winthrop University and a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, serving from 1993-2008. She tackled issues that had an impact on children, teachers, and women. She was especially concerned about those living in poverty.

    Rob Foundation Scholarship
     
    Eligibility guidelines:
    • Applicants must be a high school senior or a college/university/trade school with at least one full remaining academic year
    • Have at least one deceased parent or legal guardian
    • Reside in North Carolina or South Carolina
      • High school students must live in one of these counties; College/university/trade school students must have a current parent/legal guardian/home address in one of these counties
    • Submit a Student Reflection Essay (maximum 500 words) and one Letter of Recommendation

    Award: Up five $1,000 scholarships

    SC State AgriFCS Academy 2024 Scholarship Program

    Eligibility: Student must be an incoming freshmen for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. Student must major and remain in one of the following areas: AgriBusiness, Family and Consumer Sciences, Business/Child Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, Business/Fashion Merchandising, Business/Multidisciplinary, Nutrition and Food Management. Must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA

    Award: $5,000 per year

    Deadline: April 30, 2024

     


    Tri County HBCU Alliance Scholarship Program 2024

    High school students who are on track to graduate by the conclusion of the 2023-24 academic year are eligible to apply for the scholarships. In addition, the applicant must be enrolled in a private school, public school district, or charter school (public school academy) in Chester, Lancaster, or York counties. The applicant must plan to attend an HBCU in fall 2024. The applicant cannot be an immediate family member of a board member or officer of the Alliance.

     Award: 3rd Place ($500); 2nd Place ($1000); and 1st Place ($1500). These are non-renewable.

    CSM Gary Coates Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship will be awarded to high school seniors who demonstrate scholarship and service through community involvement, volunteerism, scholastic achievement, and extra-curricular participation. 

    Award: $2,500

    Deadline: May 5th, 2024

     


    Zeta Epsilon Scholarship

    The mission of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to individuals enrolled for undergraduate study in community colleges, trade schools, and universities. Click on the link below to read more about this scholarship.

    • Applicants must be female.

    • Applicants must have permanent residence status in York or Lancaster County, South Carolina.

    • Applicants must be a high school senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

    • Applicants must be accepted as a full time student at a college, university, or trade school program for the upcoming academic semester.  If scholarship money is awarded, your selected school is the only institution that will receive funds on behalf of the applicant.

    • Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance. 

    • Applicants must complete 20 hours of community service (may include church choir, church usher, church praise team, any volunteer services, any after school curriculum, etc.)

    • Applicants must submit a 500 word essay with topic “Who Am I”.

    • Applicants must have 4 references letters.

    • Applicants must be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.

    Award: $1,250

    Student-View Scholarship Program

    The program is offering over $14,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. The program includes: One $10,000 Scholarship, Two $1,000 Scholarships, and Five $500 Scholarships.

    To apply, all you need to do is visit and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. The Scholarship will be awarded via random drawing of all completed applications.

    Deadline: April 23, 2024

    Winner will be announced in May, 2024.

     


    Keep York County Beautiful High School Scholarship

    Eligibility:

    York County high school senior

    Cumulative 3.0 or higher, 900 or higher SAT/16 or higher ACT

    Girls on the Run - Jake Miller Memorial Alumni Scholarship

    Any girl who participated in a Girls on the Run (grades 3-5) or Heart &Sole program (grades 6- 8) in York, Chester or Lancaster Counties and will enter college in the fall of 2024 is eligible to apply for a Girls on the Run Tri County SC scholarship. 

    Award: $1,500

    Deadline: April 12, 2024

     


    Tywanza Sanders Legacy Scholarship

    The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to graduating high school seniors enrolling in undergraduate study at a four-year college or university in the United States for the 2024-2025 academic year.  The review committee will assess the following areas: written essay, academic performance, and financial need.  Scholarships are awarded upon the availability of funds and additional qualifying criteria. 

    Award: $8,000 total available, $2,000 for text books available

    Deadline: April 15, 2024

     


    Ella Beatrice Ferguson Moore Memorial Scholarship

    Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated®, Eta Alpha Omega Chapter of ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û, SC, awards annually the Ella Beatrice Ferguson Moore Memorial Scholarship. The Scholarship may go toward studies at an accredited two-year (including technical school, junior college, or community college) or four-year college or university. 

    The Ella Beatrice Ferguson Moore Memorial Scholarship Committee will recognize ten students. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 Book Award, which is non-renewable. All awards will be paid directly to the institution.

    Eligibility:

    • A resident of York or Chester County, South Carolina or a participant in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® , Eta Alpha Omega Chapter 2024 Debutante Cotillion.
    • Minimum Grade Point Average of  3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
    • Able to show proof of an acceptance letter to a two- or four-year college or university you plan attend.

    Class 101 Scholarship

    Since 2017, Class 101 has sponsored the 101 Scholars Program, giving students nationwide the opportunity to compete for $3,000 to help them make college more affordable. To date, 18 students have received this honor. This year, four scholarships will be awarded to applicants who demonstrate excellence in leadership, community involvement and academic achievement.

    All freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school, who have not won in the past, are eligible to apply. The scholarship will be sent to the college in the summer before their freshman year of college.

    Award: $3,000

    Deadline: April 15, 2024

     

    Central City Optomist Club Scholarship Fund

    Eligibility:

    Application must be received by March 15th.

    GPA must be 2.0 or greater. GPA for first semester senior grades will govern. GPA must be derived from at least three of the following subjects: Math, History, English, or Science.

    Recipients must be accepted by an accredited technical school, junior college, or 4 year institution of higher learning.

    Two letters of recommendation: one from a high school teacher or guidance counselor, and one from a Central City Optomist Club Member. 

    Deadline: March 15, 2024

     


    Horatio Alger Association Scholarships

    Eligibility:

    • Be enrolled full time as a high school junior or senior in the United States

    • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)

    • Demonstrate critical financial need ($65,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)

    • Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities

    • Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

    • Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and

    • Be a United States citizen

    Deadline: March 15th, 2024

     


    Henry D. Miller Memorial STEM Scholarship

    Must be a minority male student

    Must be a Graduating Senior from an accredited high school.
    Must have received admission in the Fall 2024 Freshman class.
    Must have a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
    Must attend a High School in York, Chester, Lancaster, Mecklenburg or Union counties

    Award: Ranges from $1,000 - $2,500

    Deadline: March 15, 2024

     


    ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Kappa Foundation/ Richard Boulware Memorial Scholarship

    Must be a minority male student

    Must be a Graduating Senior from an accredited high school.
    Must have received admission in the Fall 2024 Freshman class.
    Must have a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
    Must attend a High School in York, Chester, Lancaster, Mecklenburg or Union counties

    Award: Ranges from $1000 - $2500

     


    UCB Family Epilepsy Scholarship Program

    The UCB will award 30 scholarships up to $5,000 and 3 scholarships of up to $10,000 to people living with epilepsy, their family members, and caregivers pursuing education.

    The South Carolina Education Association - Retired 

    This scholarship is awarded annually and is designed to help enable young people to pursue a 4 year degree in education at a SACS accredited college, university, technical school or community college in South Carolina. Eligibility requirements listed below:

    • Must be a senior graduating from a public high school in South Carolina
    • Must plan to attend a SACS accredited college, university, technical school, or community college in SC as a full time student
    • Must plan to pursue a career in Education
    • Must have maintained a good high school academic record and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA while attending college
    • Must demonstrate leadership abilities
    • ,Must need financial assistance

    Award: $1,000

    Deadline: March 22nd, 2024

    The scholarship recipient will be notified on or before May 15 and the scholarship money will be sent to the college they plan to attend by August 1st.

     


    York Electric - Touchstone Energy Scholarship

    Each year, YEC awards 12 $1,000 Touchstone Energy Scholarships to graduating seniors at each area high school.
    • To apply, you must be a high school senior and a member of YEC.
    • With your application, submit an essay on how businesses can better connect with younger generations. Whether it’s through an online platform or by giving back, we want to hear your ideas.

    York Electric - Technical Advantage Scholarship

    YEC awards one $1,000 Technical Advantage Scholarship to a graduating senior attending York Technical College in the fall, and one $500 Work-Based Learning Scholarship to a senior participant at the Floyd D. Johnson Technology
    Center.
    • To apply, you must be a graduating high school senior planning to attend a technical college to study a trade.
    • With your application, submit an essay on Ready SC: The Importance of a Ready Workforce. Write about the Ready SC Initiative and describe the importance of a ready workforce.

    Deadline: March 23, 2024

     


    Garrick-Ramseur Memorial Scholarships

    Scholarships may go toward studies at an accredited two-year (including technical school, junior college, or community college) or four-year institution with the award amount split between two consecutive academic terms. Preference is given to minority applicants.
    There will be multiple scholarships awarded ranging between $500- $2000. Scholarship applications are available to high school seniors who meet the following criteria:
    1. Attend a York County high school or current/past ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Alumnae Jabberwock participant
    2. Scholarship: 3.0 GPA or higher
    3. Demonstrate Service: Applicant must demonstrate involvement in community service (school
    and non-school)
    4. Demonstrate Leadership: Applicant must show leadership through active membership in
    school or community organizations

    Deadline: March 25, 2024

     


    Minority Scholarship Foundation 

    Eligibility: Minority; Graduating High School Senior; 2.5 GPA or greater; Financial Need (free or reduced lunch); 2 letters of recommendation; Completion of Essay; Optional- the Selection Committee may request an interview

    Award: $2,500 per year, for 4 years + a $500 one-time book scholarship may also be provided to deserving students.

    Dallas Hirst Lumpkin Scholarship

    Eligibility: Graduating seniors planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university.  Criteria:  financial need; qualities of leadership, character, and genuine concern for others; B average and/or upper 25% of class.  For more information and to apply, visit:

    Delta Xi Zeta Scholarship

    It is the desire of Delta Xi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority to provide financial assistance to one or more high school female(s) who is(are) interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree. Eligibility: High school senior female who has been accepted at an accredited four-year college or university or a two-year technical institution. 

    Deadline: April 6, 2024

     


    Hagan Scholarship Foundation

    Eligibility:

    • Must graduate from a public, private, charter, magnet, or STEM high school
    • Must have achieved a 3.5 GPA
    • Must enroll in an eligible college or university the first semester following graduation
    • Must maintain a 4 year or less graduation schedule
    • Must work 240 hours prior to commencement of the fall semester in college
    • Applicants Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for 2022 Federal Income Tax Purposes must not have exceeded $100,000

    Award: Provides up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters.

    Laura M. Fleming Scholarship

    The purpose of the Scholarship Fund is to provide undergraduate scholarships to the children of Founders Federal Credit Union members to attend an accredited college, vocational or technical school of their choice. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, financial need and involvement in school and community activities.  Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

    Award: $1,000 - $2,500 annually 

    Deadline: March 1, 2024

     


    Foundation 649 Scholarship

    Eligibility requirements:

    • Be a degree-seeking, full-time student enrolling in a U.S. accredited university in Fall 2024 as a Freshman or transferring from a community college
    • Identify as Asian American / Pacific Islander
    • Have a track record of involvement and interest in AAPI communities, issues, or causes
    • Have demonstrated financial need for the scholarship
    • Be a US citizen, resident, or foreign national. Undocumented students are also welcome to apply.

    Award: $4,000 spread over 4 years 

    Deadline: March 1, 2024

     


    The Silver Pen Writing Competition Scholarship

    For this scholarship, students must write a 1000 word essay on this assigned topic: How does music define a generation? What is your favorite band/musician, and how do they define you? Award winners will receive: 1st place - $2,500, 2nd place - $750, and 3rd place - $500.

    Deadline: February 15, 2024

     


    Winthrop Eagle STEM Scholars Program

    For graduating seniors seeking a STEM-related degree at Winthrop University (Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computer science, Cybersecurity, Data science, Environmental science, Math). .

    Archibald Rutledge Scholarship Program

    The Archibald Rutledge Scholarship program offers twelfth-grade students (enrolled in a public school in South Carolina) the opportunity to compete for a scholarship in creative writing, dance, music, theatre, or visual arts as well as encourages and recognizes academic and artistic excellence among South Carolina students.

    • Students must currently be enrolled in twelfth grade in a public school in South Carolina.
    • Students must plan to attend a South Carolina college or university.
    • Students must be a U.S. citizen and have attended public school in South Carolina for the past two years.
    • Students may only apply for one scholarship.

    Award: $2,000

    Deadline: February 19th, 2024. You may submit application through the school counseling office or through the electronic submission link.

     


    The Michael A. DeMayo Arrive Alive Scholarship

    This scholarship plans to award fifteen, $2,500 Scholarships to high school students. The firm's committee selects students based on their grades, school and community involvement, SAT or ACT scores, and a presentation (essay, brochure, billboard ad, or tiktok video) that encourages fellow teens to abstain from underage drinking and driving or distracted driving, and highlight dangers and consequences of drinking and driving or distracted driving.

    Kitty M. Fairy Educational Fund Scholarship

    Eligibility:

    Students must be planning to attend full-time an accredited college or university in South Carolina. A GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and demonstration of financial need is desired. This scholarship is for one year only; however, current recipients may reapply and be considered for additional funding along with other new applicants.

    South Carolina Federal Credit Union 2024 Scholarship

    South Carolina Federal Credit Union is awarding nine scholarships, with denominations between $2,500 and $10,000. Please click  for the official scholarship rules.

    Eligibility:

    • Must be a legal U.S. resident.
    • Must have an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good standing with current school.
    • Must be planning to attend a traditional college/university on a full-time basis, or a specialized/technical college/university on a part-time or full-time basis, in South Carolina for the fall 2024 semester.
    • Must be an undergraduate student for the fall 2024 semester. Graduate students are not eligible to apply.

    James F. Byrnes Scholarship

    The Byrnes Scholarship is available to students who have lost one or both parents and who plan to seek a bachelor’s degree at a four -year college or university.

    Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

    The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) perpetuates the memory of Jackie Robinson by providing generous four-year scholarships and comprehensive support services to highly motivated college students with financial needs to ensure their success and further develop their leadership potential. To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must: • Be a graduating, minority high school senior; • Be a United States citizen; • Present evidence of financial need; • Demonstrate a record of academic excellence; • Demonstrate leadership potential and a dedication to community service; • Plan to attend an accredited and approved 4-year college/university within the United States or affiliated with a United Statesbased college or university; • Have not accrued more than 25% of credits needed to graduate from college.

    Eastern Star Scholarship

    This is a four-year scholarship of $8,000 ($2,000 per year), open to any African American High School Senior in South Carolina with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, renewable if the student maintains a 2.5 GPA during the period of four years in college. A high school transcript with the school seal, and a picture (3x5 or larger) must accompany each application.

    Martin Luther King Scholarship Essay Competition


    The three (3) top essay winners will be presented with an award intended to support post high school education, with the 1st place winner receiving $1,000, the 2nd place winner receiving $500, and the 3rd place winner receiving $250. Additionally, the 1st place winner will be given an invitation to present his/her excerpt at the city-wide MLK Interfaith Ceremony on January 15, 2024.

    Requirements are:
    1. The student applicant must be a high school junior (graduating in June) or senior.
    2. Complete the student entry cover sheet form (in attached document)
    3. Submit recommendation form, signed by high school Guidance Counselor or another school official or community leader.
    4. Complete and submit essay (essay prompt found at the top of the application form).
    5. Submit resume of extra-curricular civic/religious activities and community service.

    SCATA - NAFEPA Scholarship Program

    The NAFEPA Scholarship Program is open to candidates meeting all the following eligibility criteria: 

    • High school senior on track to graduate by the conclusion of the 2023-24 school year; 

    • Enrolled in a public school district or charter school (public school academy) with at least one current NAFEPA member*; AND

    • Pursuing a degree, license, certification, or other professional or vocational endorsement at a post-secondary institution beginning in 2024-25 and continuing in 2025-26.

    • Year two recipients must be in good academic standing. Specific eligibility criteria for Year two will be shared with recipients when they are notified of their awards.

    For seniors who plan on attending Davidson College after graduation.     The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the , the Foundation has provided over 6,750 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $81 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.     The York County Woman’s Club Scholarship

    The York County Woman's Club is a proud supporter of military families in York County. Each year we offer three (3) $1500.00 scholarships to high school seniors who are children of veterans, reservists or active military. This scholarship is available for the 2023-2024 school year and can be used at any post-graduate school. Scholarship money will be sent directly to the school for tuition. Scholarships will be reviewed on May 15, 2023 on the basis of both need and merit and announced no later than May 22, 2023.

    Award: $600

    Awarded to at least one high school senior who has demonstrated the qualities of hard work and good citizenship. Desired qualities of successful candidate: Works hard to accomplish goals and complete tasks, Exhibits good character, Is well rounded in academics and extra-curricular or volunteer activities, Exhibits loyalty, Works unselfishly with others. Applicant must submit a one page essay on the importance of setting goals and how hard work has had an impact on your success in achieving your goals.     York Technical College Foundation Achievement Scholarship

    The Achievement Scholarship is offered by the York Technical College Foundation to incoming high school students who have been accepted to York Technical College and will start in the fall semester. This scholarship will be awarded to one exceptional student from each of the high schools in the college’s service area. The Scholarship Committee will review all applications and make awards based on the availability of funds to those individuals recommended by their high school representative and who best meet the following criteria: 1. Applicants must rank in the top 30 percent of their graduating class. 2. Demonstrate financial need for scholarship assistance. 3. Be recommended by a high school representative, such as an instructor, counselor or principal. 4. Submit current transcripts and a letter of recommendation to be completed by a high school representative.     The City of ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û and the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency (PMPA) have partnered to give a $1,000 scholarship to a high

    Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the volunteer work of Brother Joseph David Boone, an early equal rights activist,

    The Juneteenth ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Dr. Ann Cain Scholarship was established in June 2016 in memory of Dr. Ann Cain. Dr. Ann Cain spent her life educating children, encouraging them to strive for excellence and passing on the love of learning. She was a staple in her community and beyond. The legacy and life of Dr. Ann Cain, this one-time scholarship will be rewarded to a deserving high school student.  Completed application should be postmarked no later than April 15th, 2023 to be considered for the scholarship.

    Tri County HBCU Alliance Scholarship Program 2023

    The purpose of the scholarship program is to financially support post-secondary education for qualifying high
    school seniors attending their first year of college. For the Tri County HBCU Alliance, scholarships are
    awarded at 3rd Place ($500); 2nd Place ($1000); and 1st Place ($1500). These are non-renewable.

    Sallie Mae Bridging the Dream Scholarship

    The Sallie Mae Fund’s Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program for High School Seniors helps make the dream of higher education a reality for outstanding students from under-resourced, underrepresented, and underserved communities.

    ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Garrick-Ramseur Memorial Scholarships

    The ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., annually awards the Garrick-Ramseur Memorial Scholarships. The scholarships are given in memory of our deceased sorority members, Margaret Garrick and Essie Ramseur. Scholarships may go toward studies at an accredited two-year (including technical school, junior college, or community college) or four-year institution with the award amount split between two consecutive academic terms. Preference is given to minority applicants. There will be multiple scholarships awarded ranging between $500- $2000. Scholarship applications are available to high school seniors who meet the following criteria: 1. Attend a York County high school or current/past ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Alumnae Jabberwock participant 2.     Dallas Hirst Lumpkin Scholarship

    This scholarship was endowed by the children and grandchildren of Dallas Hirst Lumpkin in recognition of her devotion to family, lifelong commitment to education, and her active involvement in her church and the ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û community. Applicants must be graduating from a ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û, SC public high school planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university, show financial need, a solid scholastic record: B average and/or upper 25% of the class, possess qualities of leadership, character, and concern for others. Must submit official high school transcript and up to two letters of recommendation from someone other than a family member with a completed application to guidance office.     Bessie Moody Lawrence Scholarship

    The York County Democratic Women's Council has been offering scholarships to York County graduating senior women since 2014. This year they plan to offer two scholarships of $1,500+. The scholarship is in memory of Dr. Bessie-Moody Lawrence, a professor of Education at Winthrop University and a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, serving from 1993-2008. She tackled issues that had an impact on children, teachers, and women. She was especially concerned about those living in poverty.

    Minority Scholarship Foundation

    The Minority Scholarship Foundation was established to assist with post-secondary education for African-American students from the ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û- Fort Mill area. The scholarship is awarded to one student in the amount of $2,000 per year, for 4 years. *A $500 one-time book scholarship may also be provided to deserving students.

    UCB Family Epilepsy Scholarship Program

    The UCB will award 30 scholarships up to $5,000 and 3 scholarships of up to $10,000 to people living with epilepsy, their family members, and caregivers pursuing education.

    The South Carolina Education Association - Retired

    Designed to help enable promising young people to pursue a four-year degree in education at a SACS accredited college, university, technical school or community college in South Carolina. Awarded to four students a scholarship of $1,000 to be paid to the South Carolina school they plan to attend, in the name of the scholarship winner. This may be used for room, board, tuition, and/or books.

    Criteria: Must be a senior graduating from public high school in SC, must plan to attend a SACS accredited college, must plan to pursue a degree in education, 3.0 GPA or higher, demonstrate leadership abilities, must need financial assistance.

    District Number Five Order of the Eastern Star Scholarship

    The only requirement to receive this scholarship is to write a 1,000 – 1,500 word essay on the given topic and all essays must be time stamped by April 1, 2023.  No late essays will be scored.  After the scholarship team has had an opportunity to grade the essay, all participants will be notified by e-mail and/or phone call.

    The Government Finance Officers Association of South Carolina - Presidents Scholarship

    The GFOASC is awarding a $750 Scholarship to any high school student who meets the following criteria: The applicant must be a resident of the State of South Carolina; The applicant must be a high school senior; The applicant must be attending a South Carolina technical college or university working towards a certificate, AssociateDegree, or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field; The applicant must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

    2023 National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Scholar/Essay Application

    In accordance with National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association’s (NIAAA) purpose to promote,
    facilitate, and increase the knowledge and understanding of the vital role of interscholastic athletics in the educational
    system, this scholarship program will foster and acknowledge the partnership between the NIAAA and secondary
    education. The scholarships will recognize the distinguished scholastic, leadership, and citizenship attributes of high
    school student athletes, and the importance of high school athletics in each student’s life.

    Criteria:
    1. Applicant must be a Senior
    2. Applicant must have achieved at least one (1) of the following:
    (A) minimum of B+ average;
    (B) Ranked in the top 25% of class;
    (C) ACT score of 24 or an SAT score of 1100 (Math and Reading)
    3. Applicant must have participated in two sports for at least two years in each sport
    4. Applicant must have earned at least one varsity letter in each of two sports
    5. Applicant must complete attached scholar/essay application
    6. Applicant must have a letter of recommendation from the high school athletic administrator/director
    7. School athletic director must be an NIAAA member and a member of their respective state athletic
    administrators association

    For students pursuing studies in the food and agricultural sciences at NC A&T. Open to high school students and college transfer students who demonstrate exemplary leadership traits and a commitment to community service. This scholarship is highly competitve and provides a one-time $2,000 tuition payment for students pursuing majors in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at NC A&T.

    Ellevation Education Scholarship Program

    Ellevation will be awarding ten $2,000 scholarships to deserving MLL (multilingual learner) students who are pursuing higher education. This year, in addition to financial support, they will also be providing scholarship winners with networking and mentorship opportunities from the Ellevation community.

    Be a high school senior who has been enrolled as an English Language Learner (ELL) at some point during their K-12 education.
